What electrical thermal imaging is (and isn’t)
Thermal imaging (infrared thermography) measures surface temperature patterns on electrical equipment while it is energised and working. Abnormal heat often appears long before a connection fails, a breaker trips or a motor burns out. A trained technician captures thermal and visual images, compares temperatures against similar components under similar load, and documents anything that looks abnormal. Those patterns may indicate issues such as poor connections, abnormal loading or component problems and require interpretation.
It is a non-intrusive inspection method. In most cases we do not open every enclosure beyond what is needed for a safe line of sight, and we do not require a planned outage. Equipment stays online so the scan reflects real operating conditions.
It is not a full electrical audit, a substitute for licensed electrical work, or a guarantee that nothing will fail later. Thermal imaging shows heat signatures at the time of the scan. Findings still need a competent electrician or maintenance team to investigate and repair.
